You invest in intangibles every day. Do you manage them like it?

R&D, brand, technology, talent, customer relationships — your intangible assets drive 80% of your company’s value. But they’re invisible on your balance sheet and absent from your management reports. Opagio changes that.

Your biggest investments are invisible to your own management reports.

Three problems every growing company faces

You're investing, but you can't see it

Your P&L shows R&D as an expense. Marketing as an expense. Training as an expense. But each of those investments is building an intangible asset — proprietary technology, brand equity, human capital. Under IAS 38 and FRS 102, most internally generated intangible assets cannot appear on the balance sheet. Your biggest investments are invisible to your own management reports.

You can't manage what you can't measure

Without structured intangible data, capital allocation is intuition-driven. Should you invest more in technology or brand? Is your organisational capital keeping pace with your growth? Are your data assets compounding or stagnating? These questions have answers — but only if you measure.

Your competitors are moving

Companies are restructuring entire workforces around AI, replacing human capital with technology capital at unprecedented speed. The ones that measure the intangible impact of these decisions — across all 12 value drivers, not just headcount — will outperform those that don't. 90% of S&P 500 value is intangible. The IASB is reviewing IAS 38. The question is whether you're managing your intangible portfolio before your competitors do.

Manage your intangible assets like a portfolio

Discover what you have

The Opagio 12™ framework identifies intangible assets across 12 value drivers — including assets your accounting framework doesn’t recognise. Our Intelligent Onboarder scans your company’s public footprint and financial data to build your initial Value Drivers Register automatically.

What you’ll see: A complete register of your intangible assets, classified by driver, with strategic vs. balance-sheet distinction.

Measure investment and returns

Connect your accounting data (Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, or CSV) and Opagio maps your general ledger to intangible investment categories automatically. See where your money is going — and whether it’s building lasting value or being consumed.

What you’ll see: Your Normalised P&L showing intangible investment by category, with productivity impact analysis.

Track performance over time

The Growth Accounting Engine measures total factor productivity — the contribution of intangible capital to your output growth. Track your Opagio 12 driver scores quarterly. Benchmark against your sector. Spot declining assets before they become problems.

What you’ll see: Quarterly dashboard with driver scores, trend lines, sector benchmarks, and alerts for drivers that are weakening.

Model scenarios and allocate capital

Save up to 20 investment scenarios and compare them side by side. Model how shifting capital between intangible drivers affects productivity, EBITDA, and enterprise value over 1-5 years. Make the case for investment with data, not narrative.

What you’ll see: Scenario comparison showing “invest £500K more in Technology” vs. “invest £500K more in Brand” with 5-year projected impact.

How companies use Opagio for ongoing growth

Board reporting on intangible capital

Your board sees financial metrics every quarter. Revenue, EBITDA, cash flow, headcount. But they don't see the assets driving those numbers — the technology platform, the customer relationships, the brand equity, the organisational processes. Opagio gives your board a structured intangible capital report: 12 driver scores, trend analysis, peer benchmarking, and investment recommendations.

R&D and innovation investment justification

You're spending £2M a year on R&D. Is it building a durable technology asset or being consumed? Opagio's Growth Accounting Engine isolates the intangible capital contribution of your R&D spend and shows whether it's producing measurable productivity gains. Stop defending R&D as a cost. Present it as capital formation.

Intangible capital allocation

You allocate physical capital carefully — capex budgets, fleet management, property decisions. But intangible investment (where 60-80% of your value sits) is buried in operating expenses with no structured oversight. Opagio maps every pound of intangible investment to the driver it's building, shows you where investment is concentrated vs. where gaps exist, and helps you allocate capital to the highest-return drivers.

Competitive intelligence and benchmarking

How does your intangible asset profile compare to your peers? Which drivers are your competitors investing in that you're not? Opagio's Intelligence Engine scans competitor profiles and produces comparative analysis across all 12 drivers. See your relative position and identify differentiation opportunities.

AI transformation: are you creating or destroying intangible value?

Block cut 40% of its workforce. Salesforce halved its support team. The market rewarded these moves. But nobody is measuring the full intangible impact: when you cut Human Capital and replace it with Technology Capital, what happens to the other 10 drivers? Organisational Capital walks out the door. Customer Capital may erode. Opagio measures the net effect — your Opagio 12 driver scores before, during, and after transformation. Whether you're investing in AI to accelerate or restructuring to get lean, you need the full intangible picture.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to be preparing for an exit or fundraise to use Opagio?

No. Most Opagio customers use the platform for ongoing intangible asset management — tracking investment, measuring returns, and making smarter capital allocation decisions. Exit readiness and fundraise preparation are additional use cases, not prerequisites.

What data do I need to get started?

You can run a free Opagio 12 assessment with no data at all. To use the full Growth Accounting Engine and Normalised P&L, you’ll need your general ledger data — which you can upload as a CSV or connect directly from Xero, QuickBooks, or Sage.

How is this different from our existing financial reporting?

Your P&L and balance sheet show financial performance but treat intangible investments as expenses. Opagio reclassifies those investments, maps them to the 12 value drivers, and shows you the intangible capital you’re building — the same way a fixed asset register tracks your physical capital.

Is this relevant for public companies?

Yes. Public companies invest heavily in intangibles but have limited visibility into which investments are creating lasting value. Opagio provides the structured intangible capital view that complements your existing financial and ESG reporting. The Opagio 12 framework aligns with integrated reporting standards (Six Capitals / IIRC).

What’s the time commitment?

A free assessment takes 5 minutes. Full platform setup with GL data takes 1-2 hours. Ongoing use is designed around quarterly reviews — the same cadence as your board reporting cycle.
